Symptoms

Suppose your application can't connect to your Redis database. The following sections suggest ensuring your client and server are configured correctly.

Troubleshooting

  1. Ensure the database FQDN or IP is accessible by ping or telnet command.
  2. Ensure your database FQDN can be resolved using the nslookup or dig commands. The public IP address assigned to your database can change due to a scale operation or backend improvement. We recommend relying on the hostname instead of an explicit public IP address.
  3. Check that your database is up using the rladmin status extra all command.
  4. Test connectivity using the redis-cli tool
  5. If you have a firewall configured for your Redis database, ensure that your client IP address is added to the firewall rules.
  6. Third-party firewall or external proxy, check if your endpoint IP and FQDN are allowed along with the database ports.
  7. When using TLS/SSL connections, ensure you use the correct certificates and TLS encryption.
